Porcelain

Porcelain has become increasingly popular because manufacturers can create colors and patterns that closely resemble natural stone. Some porcelain designs offer impressive depth and movement.

However, many porcelain slabs are not through-body products, meaning the veining does not continue completely through the thickness of the material. This can affect the appearance of sink cutouts and exposed edges.

Certain porcelain products also reveal a lighter-colored line at mitered edges because the printed surface design does not continue through the body. Porcelain also cannot be shaped into traditional decorative edge profiles in the same way as natural stone or quartz.

It is still an excellent product when selected and fabricated correctly, but customers should understand its characteristics before making a decision.
